Townscapes

A1 line drawing with pencil, using point and line but no tone. I find this way of drawing quite an uninteresting way to work, as I prefer to work in quite a fast, effective way.

A1 charcoal and compressed charcoal drawing of the townscape view through the window. I found this way of drawing much more appealing to me because I could be a lot more free and abstract with the way I used the drawing media. I also found the finished piece more visually appealing (than the line drawing in pencil) because of the dark, dusty surface texture. After I finished this drawing, I thought it reminded me of John Virtue's work, and then Richard suggested him to the class.
